I definitely see what you’re saying, but I viewed it as a subversion of the “final girl” trope… this time, no one survives. Sure, it may not be satisfying to us as an audience, exactly, but that’s what I think makes it all the more effective. It’s quite rare, I think, that all the characters wind up dead at the end of a slasher, so I was pleasantly surprised to be surprised by the direction the movie took.
